Scottish rockers The View and hotly tipped Manchester band Cabbage are the latest artists announced for Glasgow’s new TRNSMT festival, taking place at Glasgow Greenacross 7th – 9th July 2017.
Both bands began 2017 on high, celebrating different career-defining moments in their musical journeys. Tickets sold out in less than twenty minutes for The View’s record-breaking run of shows at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow to celebrate ten years as a band, where they became the first artist to perform six nights in a row at the iconic venue. Cabbage secured a place on the BBC Sound of 2017 longlist and their work so far has garnered praise from Clash, Drowned in Sound and The Guardian, to name but a few.
The View join fellow Scots Biffy Clyro and Twin Atlantic, as well as The 1975, Two Door Cinema Club and Blossoms, on the closing day of TRNSMT, Sunday 9th July. Their extensive back catalogue includes six albums (three of which entered the UK top ten charts) and the band shows no sign of slowing down as they enter their second decade on the music scene.
Famed for their live shows, Cabbage played in excess of 100 gigs in 2016. They’re no strangers to exciting a crowd and they’ll do just that when they kick off proceedings on the main stage at TRNSMT on Saturday 8th July. Their acerbic, socially and politically aware lyrics have resonated with fans across the UK, including fellow TRNSMT artist Blossoms, who bestowed a support slot on their latest tour to Cabbage. With Kasabian, Catfish and the Bottlemen, George Ezra, The Kooks and Circa Waveson the bill too on Saturday 8th July, fans are in for a musical treat.
