JESS GLYNNE & CHVRCHES ANNOUNCED AS FINAL HEADLINERS FOR BELLADRUM 2019 PLUS GLASVEGAS, RICHARD THOMPSON & MUCH MORE
JESS GLYNNE will bring the 16th outing of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival to a spectacular close headlining the final night of the event on Saturday 3rd August, while Scottish synth pop group CHVRCHES make their Bella debut headlining the Friday evening.
JESS GLYNNE rose to prominence in 2014 featuring as a guest vocalist on huge hits for Clean Bandit, ‘Rather Be’ and Route 94’s ‘My Love’. Her debut album released the following year ‘I Cry When I Laugh’ featured a string of hits including ‘Hold My Hand’ and ‘Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself’.
Her second album released in 2018 ‘Always In Between’ featured further number ones, ‘All I am’ and ‘I’ll Be There’ which have given Jess the accolade of being the first British female solo artist to have 7 number 1 singles in the UK Charts.
Exploding onto the music scene in 2013 with their debut single ‘The Mother We Share’, CHVRCHES have been on a meteoric rise ever since and join Bella on a Scottish festival exclusive show next summer.
Upon its release in May of this year, ‘Love Is Dead’ became the band’s third successive top 10 UK album, following their 2013 debut ‘The Bones of What You Believe’ and the 2015 follow up ‘Every Open Eye’.

Scottish indie-rock band GLASVEGAS will make their debut Belladrum appearance headlining the Hot House stage. The band have been celebrating the 10th anniversary of their self-titled platinum selling debut album this year culminating in a sold-out show on 14th December at the iconic Glasgow Barrowlands.
Fairpoint Convention founder RICHARD THOMPSON will headline the Grassroots Stage on the Friday evening. Named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of All Time, Richard Thompson is also one of the world’s most critically acclaimed and prolific songwriters. He has received Lifetime Achievement Awards for Songwriting on both sides of the Atlantic- from the Americanas in Nashville to Britain’s BBC Awards, and the prestigious Ivor Novellos.
Other acts joining over the weekend include; Australian Roots act ROUND MOUNTAIN GIRLS; Bristol’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner SAM KELLY & THE LOST BOYS, Inverness’ own LIONAL; THE CARLOWAYS, who’s song ‘Crawlin’ Back’ was the official soundtrack to our 2018 after-movie; local favourites DAVY COWAN & THE STORM CHASERS; highland trad acts HOODJA & GLEADHRAICH; and emerging singer-songwriter KEIR GIBSON; and final act for the moment CALUM MACKENZIE JONES & THE TRAD PROJECT.
These acts join previously announced Thursday night headliner ELBOW, along with TOM ODELL, LEWIS CAPALDI, THE SELECTER, COLONEL MUSTARD & THE DIJON FIVE, SKERRYVORE, COCO & THE BUTTERFIELDS, THE POOZIES, TORRIDON, THE DANGLEBERRIES, BOMBSKARE, TOM MCGUIRE & THE BRASSHOLES, RHYTHMNREEL, AWKWARD FAMILY PORTRAITS, FUN BOX, RIONNAGAN ROSS, MACFLOYD and THE SENSATIONAL DAVID BOWIE BAND.
Many more acts will be announced early next year.
2019 tickets for the 16th Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, voted Trip Advisor’s most popular UK festival in 2017, are on sale on-line and via ticket agents. Buyers can pay in seven monthly instalments if they buy tickets before 1st January 2018. All on-line ticket buyers can take advantage of a 72 hour cooling off period after purchase during which they can return bought tickets.
E-tickets are on sale via the festival website at www.tartanheartfestival.co.uk and via www.skiddle.com. As well as the standard 3 day festival tickets a limited number of campervan/ caravan, BellaDub VW Campervan and electric hook-up tickets.
Patrons planning a stage or hen party, or just coming with a group of friends, can make a group bookings of 10 or more tickets with no booking fee via the festival web site tickets page as can disabled ticket applications. VW campervan owners can buy tickets to the BellaDub VW Campervan area.
Glamping providers Pitch Village have their tents on sale via Bella’s Skiddle tickets page and Yurts & Squrts accommodation is available via the festival’s web site page.
Bella’s lead charitable cause for 2019 is Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH). Donations will be collected in memory of Frightened Rabbit’s Scott Hutchinson, the band were due to headline the Hot House stage in 2018. Donations can be added to ticket purchases via Skiddle and other opportunities to donate during the festival will be announced in due course.
Car parks and camping areas will be open from 0800 and arenas will open from 1300 on the Thursday.
Bella sold out in 2018 for the tenth year in a row so fans are urged to buy early to avoid disappointment. Previous headliners and major artists included: Paloma Faith; Tom Jones, Manic Street Preachers, The Pretenders; Franz Ferdinand; Twin Atlantic and First Aid Kit.
Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s ‘Oscars’. |
