THE ENEMY TO HEADLINE

We are delighted to announce that the first headliner for the ninth edition of Loopallu will be indie rock outfit THE ENEMY.
Rising to fame in 2007 with their debut album ‘We’ll Live and Die in These Towns’ smashing straight into the number one spot, THE ENEMY have had a string of hits including ‘Away From Here’ and ‘Had Enough’ becoming anthems for a generation.
Their second album ‘Music for the People’ reached number two in the UK album charts and 2012’s ‘Streets in the Sky’ was another top ten hit which cemented their place as a force to be reckoned with and shows why the band are set to blow the roof off Loopallu’s Big Top.
Joining them are eighties 2-Tone legends THE BEAT. Formed in Birmingham in 1978, part of the West Midlands ska revival scene that also produced The Specials and The Selecter, THE BEAT are known the world over for smash hit singles including “Mirror in the Bathroom”, “Too Nice To Talk To”, “Can’t Get Used To Losing You”, “Hands off She’s Mine” and “All Out To Get You”. Their songs of peace, love and unity fuse ska, pop, reggae and punk rock and their dynamic live show has garnered them a loyal following at home and abroad.
Also confirmed is folk star RODDY WOOMBLE who’s previous guise as Idlewild frontman saw him string up twelve top forty singles, tour the world and even support acts such as U2, The Rolling Stones and REM amongst others. Comfortable in his new role, Roddy released his third solo album ‘Listen to Keep’ earlier this year to great reviews.
Final act for the moment are alt.folk-rock band THE MOULETTES. Ex-Moulette Ted Dwane now of Mumford and Sons recently returned to play on their latest release ‘The Bear’s Revenge’ and their charismatic, idosyncratic brand of modern folk has lead to national airplay from the likes of Bob Harris, Lauren Laverne and Cerys Matthews.
Loopallu takes place in the west coast village of Ullapool on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st of September 2013 and doubles the population of the village for the weekend. As well as the usual eclectic line up of acts appearing at the festival big top and the fringe events after hours in the village’s pubs, the festival will again provide a selection of fine food and drink from around the Highlands as well as the famous warm Ullapool welcome.
Tickets for this year are priced at £65 for weekend tickets and £80 for weekend and camping. Weekend and Camping ticket holders wishing to bring campervans and caravans will be charged £25 per vehicle. Children aged between 6 and 12 are £10 for the weekend, and under 5’s are free. (Anyone aged 16 and under need to be accompanied by an adult at all times)
