TRNSMT DAY THREE
The TRNSMT music festival is set to welcome music fans to the third day of the event’s first weekend at Glasgow Green. Another packed audience will watch more sun-drenched performances from some of the biggest and most exciting names in music including, Fatherson, Blossoms, Interpol and Arctic Monkeys.
DF Concerts & Events, Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service said the event so far has been a huge success.
Says Festival Director, Geoff Ellis: “We couldn’t have asked for better on our first weekend of TRNSMT this year. We’ve had unbelievable festival weather and seen some fantastic sets.
“Arctic Monkeys are headlining what’s probably one of the most anticipated festival performances of the year – we’ve got them for a UK festival exclusive, and it’s their only Scottish date of 2018 – so it should be an epic end to our first three days.”
Superintendent David Pettigrew, Police Scotland added: “The behaviour of festival-goers at TRNSMT has been overwhelmingly positive.
“Six arrests were made yesterday and, by working in partnership with the event organisers, we also prevented 33 people from coming on site, who have now been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged drugs offences.
“Our message today continues to be strongly anti-drugs. Not only will those in possession be detected and arrested but we must also stress how dangerous illegal substances can be, particularly in temperatures such as these. Under no circumstances should you take the risk.
“Also, do not bring flares or any other items not permitted at the festival. As before, we’re encouraging people to continue to look after themselves and their friends, so that they can have a great day at TRNSMT.”
Says Alan McWilliam, onsite medical manager: “It’s been a busy event for us, but our team have coped incredibly well and our on-site hospital has offered a first-class service to festival goers. So far, we’ve seen 710 people across the festival, mainly for minor ailments and weather-related assistance. All in all, there’s been a positive atmosphere on-site and we continue to advise people today to look after themselves by eating, drinking water and applying sun cream.”
