Following a number of years of successful events, Evolution Emerging 2012 kicked off the Evolution Festival weekend in true style with standout performances from headliners Beth Jeans Houghton & the Hooves of Destiny and We Are Knuckle Dragger. Generator’s ability to unearth the next big thing was on display for all to see, with highlights of last year including Lulu James, Amy Holford and Boy Jumps Ship. The event’s reputation for offering a truly varied lineup of amazing talent absolutely FREE was firmly established last year, with many of the venues one-in-one-out throughout the night.
Ongoing successes from previous events include Mausi, The Lake Poets, Lulu James, Let’s Buy Happiness, Natasha Haws, Vinyl Jacket, Baron Von Alias and Shields who have all gained national acclaim, regular radio play and built huge fan-bases across the country.
And new for 2013, Generator are pleased to announce that one lucky artist from Evolution Emerging will be selected to open the mainstage of Evolution Festival, the region’s biggest and best music festival which takes place on NewcastleGateshead Quayside from Sunday 26th-Monday 27th May.
Last year’s event featured artist such as Dizzee Rascal, Deadmau5, Maximo Park, Rizzle Kicks, Miles Kane and more so this is a fantastic opportunity for local talent.
Tickets for Evolution are available now from www.evolutionfestival.co.uk.
Joe Frankland, Artist Development Manager at Generator says:
“Now in its fifth year, Evolution Emerging is the highlight of the North East gig calendar. With last year’s hugely popular event, we really cemented our reputation for discovering the best new bands and solo artists in the region. But we know that there’s plenty more out there so once again we’re inviting the best emerging talent to apply to play. The bar has been set high but with the additional opportunity of being selected to perform at Evolution Festival itself, we expect to smash our own records and have hundreds more applications this year. We can’t wait to hear what’s out there!”
Evolution Emerging is supported by Arts Council England, ERDF and PRS for Music Foundation.
