Band_of_Skulls_MailADDITIONS TO BELLADRUM FESTIVAL LINE-UP

 

Gritty indie trio Band of Skulls have been recruited to headline the Hothouse Stage (second stage) at the sold-out Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival (8th & 9th August, Beauly, Inverness-shire) . Meanwhile querky pop trio, I Am Kloot, will headline the Black Isle Brewery Grassroots Stage on the Friday night. Neither band has played the festival before, unlike the legendary ceilidh band The Vatersay Boys from Barra who will feature again on the Garden Stage.

Also added to the line-up are: Welsh indie buzz-band Catfish & The Bottlemen; cult blues band Nine Below Zero; Glasgow’s Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire; sensational young multi-instrumentalist George Barnett; four piece Glasgow beat group The New Picadillys; Glasgow country duo Raintown; Ayrhsire indie band brownbear; singer-songwriter Luke Jackson; and Torridon and Feis Rois from the Highlands

And joining main stage acts on the Friday afternoon of the family-friendly festival are the UK’s biggest box office draw for children, The Singing Kettle, known to generations of young Highlanders through their shows throughout the region. “We are really thrilled to welcome The Singing Kettle to the show at last,” said festival promoter Joe Gibbs. “We have a suspicion that today’s young‘uns will be joined by yesterday’s kids singing along to these guys on the Garden Stage.” Many more artists are still to be announced.

Belladrum sold out all its weekend and Saturday tickets in March for the sixth year running in record time, five months ahead of the event taking place. The oinly remaining tickets are Saturday to Weekend upgrades and electrical hook-up tickets for existing Campervan/Caravan ticket holders. The family-friendly festival, which is in its eleventh year, has a 16500 capacity, which includes a large number of children under 12 who attend free of charge.

The newly announced artists join legendary Tom Jones headlining the Friday of the festival while the Saturday night features the popular rock band Razorlight at the top of the bill.Frightened Rabbit return to the event as very special guests. Also featured will be: Billy Bragg; The Temperance Movement; Adrian Emondson & The Bad Shepherds; The Mekons with Robbie Fulks; Casual Sex; Esperanza; Danny & The Champions Of The World; The Big Fat Electric Ceilidh Band; Call To Mind; Randolph’s Leap; Dorec-a-Belle; The Lorelei; Scooty & The Skyhooks; Mad Dog McRea; Caledonian Ceilidh Trail and Hollie Atkinson from Inverness, the 2013 winner of Bella’s Got Talent.

The 2014 theme is ‘Wild Life. Belladrum 2014 takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s ‘oscars’.
