BELLADRUM ANNOUNCES TOM JONES, RAZORLIGHT AND MUCH MORE
The legendary Tom Jones is to headline the Friday main stage of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival (8th & 9th August 2014) for what is believed to be his first ever performance in the Highlands. And headlining the same stage on the Saturday night are the popular rock bandRazorlight.
Tom Jones is known to viewers of The Voice on BBC Television and is the singer of hits such as ‘It’s Not Unusual’, ‘What’s New Pussycat’, and ‘Delilah.’ He has sold over 100 million records since emerging on the music scene in the mid-1960s.
Indie-rockers Razorlight, who formed in 2002, topped the UK charts with their single ‘America’ and their self-titled album in 2006. Other hit singles have included ‘Somewhere Else’ and ‘In The Morning.’
“Sir Tom has long been a hero of mine and it is a singular privilege to be able to welcome him to a Highland stage,’ said festival promoter Joe Gibbs. “We are also thrilled by the appearance of Razorlight at Bella whose last festival appearance in the Highlands was to headline RockNess in 2008.”
In a Scottish festival exclusive, very special guests Frightened Rabbit will return to the event. The Scots indie band last played the festival in 2012 since when they have released their further studio album ‘Pedestrian Verse’ which peaked at number nine in the UK charts.
Campervan & Caravan tickets for the event have sold out already, two months ahead of last year, and sales of tickets to the event were running at well above last year’s rate even before any announcement of line-up; the festival has sold out each of the past five years and fans are urged to buy early to avoid disappointment. Electrical hook-up tickets are still available to existing holders of campervan/caravan tickets.
Making his first appearance at the festival is the celebrated singer-songwriter Billy Braggwho blends folk and punk styles in protest songs and romantic ballads. Headliners of one of the days on the Hothouse second stage are blues rockers The Temperance Movementformed by Glasgow-born vocalist Phil Campbell. They have garnered a strong following after releasing their first studio album in 2013.
The comedian Adrian Edmondson brings has folk band The Bad Shepherds who play punk songs with traditional folk instruments. And cow punk, alt country British band The Mekonswill make an appearance on the Black Isle Brewery Grassroots Stage.
Exciting Scots indie band Casual Sex are also announced for the festival. And other artists engaged for the lineup include: Glasgow ska band Esperanza who survived the Clutha Bar helicopter tragedy; Danny & The Champions Of The World; The Big Fat Electric Ceilidh Band; Call To Mind; Randolph’s Leap; Dorec-a-Belle; The Lorelei; Scooty & The Skyhooks; Mad Dog McRea; Caledonian Ceilidh Trail and Hollie Atkinson from Inverness, the 2013 winner of Bella’s Got Talent. Many more artists are still to be announced.

The 2014 theme is ‘Wild Life, in keeping with the party atmosphere the milestone event is bound to create. Belladrum 2014 takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s ‘oscars’.
