You may remember that back in December 2021 we launched a search across Scotland’s Art Schools to find an emerging designer for our 2022 ‘Myths and Legends’ festival artwork. Francesca Grech won over our Bella hearts with her whimsical design and her inspiration behind it. We loved that she presented The Cailleach – described in myth as a hag and a goddess with one-eye and crimson teeth who formed the Scottish hills and mountains.
Francesca explains “The main inspiration for this were the ties that both the Cailleach and the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival have with the Scottish Highlands. Her hair forms the Scottish landscape and sea, with mountains and valleys. The idea of this design is to have the festival and the character interwoven within it.”
Fran has been an absolute delight to work with and we are all so proud of the final design. Actually, we have hit it off so well that Fran will be joining us on site this year to help us with our festival art installations. Francesca – you are firmly part of the Bella family now!
