AND
SPECIAL GUESTS

THE CUBAN BROTHERS

JIM JEFFERIES is one of the most sought after comics on the world stage. His shockingly charming style has won him an army of fans at instant sell out headline shows across the globe. Repeatedly one of the most popular acts at the Edinburgh Festival, in 2012 he wowed audiences with a month long, sold-out run of his critically acclaimed, smash-hit new solo show Hammered. JEFFERIES gets away with jokes most comedians wouldn’t touch due to his ability to both charm and offend the crowd in equal measure. His headline appearance at RockNess is one of only two British gigs in 2013 – AND THE ONLY ONE IN SCOTLAND – so fans can expect a barnstorming landing at Dores!

A born performer, DYLAN MORAN is an Irish stand up comedian known for his unique brand of sardonic, observational wit. Deliriously offbeat, with the finest one liners executed with killer timing you’re likely to hear, his sets never fail to tantalise. MORAN’s Channel 4 sitcom Black Books won him two Baftas, his work on zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead garnered critical acclaim, and at the age of 24 he was the youngest person to have won the prestigious Perrier Award. DYLAN MORAN headlines this year’s RockNess with JIM JEFFERIES… and we couldn’t be happier.

Also keeping us joyful is Scotland’s fastest rising comic prodigy DANIEL SLOSS. Half-man-half-Xbox, the twenty two year-old started doing stand-up aged just 16. Three sold-out Edinburgh Fringe seasons, appearances on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Rob Brydon Show, Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks and Mock the Week plus his own BBC show The Adventures of Daniel followed – all before he started to shave. And the rollercoaster keeps on going – a 50 date UK tour under his belt, stand up DVD, supplying Frankie Boyle with material…RockNess is delighted to welcome the self deprecating and unstoppable star-in-the-making back to the festival.

Like a comedic Kalashnikov, DES CLARKE’s sets are a blistering cacophony of comic neurosis, astonishing humour delivered with an energetic scattergun style. THE REVEREND OBADIAH STEPPENWOLFE III – the alter ego of Jim Muir – is a one man tornado, a fount of masterfully timed, pitch-perfect jokes that flout the very laws of censure.

ASHLEY GODLEY’s tales of Glasgow history include delights as “lug pinning at the Tron, the popularity of public hangings, and gossipy bitches being dragged through the streets by the tongue”.  BILLY KIRKWOOD, the Ayrshire born ‘comedy fizz bomb’ is a must see with a massive cult following.

CHRIS CONROY has “audiences laughing and cringing with just about the right intensity” (The Skinny). CHRIS FORBES – A regular act and also compere at Scotland’s legendary The Stand Comedy Clubs, as well as producing a night for Glasgow venue The Fun Junkies. Completing the Chris trio, CHRIS HENRY started his joke telling career after performing song and dance shows in the holiday industry for six years (took him that long to figure out he couldn’t sing or dance).

JANEY GODLEY is a “f**king great comedian” (Billy Connolly, 2012) and “the most outspoken female stand-up in Britain” (Telegraph). Expect blistering, unadulterated material which pushes dangerously near the boundaries of good taste from one of Scotland’s true comedy gems, MARK NELSON. If there’s a rabble that needs roused, ALAN ANDERSON is the comic of choice.  ALLAN J PARK is one of the hottest talents doing the Scottish comedy circuit.ANNA DEVITT gave up her 9-5 to pursue her comedy dreams, a decision well made.

In most walks of life it’s an insult to call someone a ‘bug eyed nerd’ but for DAN PETHERBRIDGE aesthetic characteristics are an asset. Another shining young star breaking through the Scottish comedy circuit, DAVEY CONNOR.

A foot-stompin’, chicken eatin’, goddamn son of a serial killer, comedy bluesman DOGSHIT JOHNSON debuts his six string philosophies at this year’s RockNess. Joining him, EDDIE CASSIDY’s rock solid comedy stacks funny line upon funny line as he builds to room killing punchlines. Next up, a comedian we are beyond excited about welcoming to RockNess…the inaptly named GARY LITTLE. Winner of Scottish Comedian of the Year 2011, JAMIE DALGLEISH paints a comical picture of Glasgow.

JOHN GAVIN is “an assured everybloke eager to decry his emasculation at having to watch Gok Wan and Mamma Mia! JOHN McGOLDRICK says “I study politics, stack shelves and do stand up. I am rotten at them all.” Young Glaswegian scoundrel JOHN WALKER delivers “pure quality banter, no daft themes, just making punters laugh”.

Canadian JOSH DUNN is a revolutionary force in comedy and never fails to wow with hilarious sets anchored on encounters with women, politics and pretty much every other subject under the sun. JULIA SUTHERLAND does darkly delicious comedy for grown ups. Happy-go-lucky and loveable, that’s Geordie KAI HUMPHRIES.

Another comic destined for lofty heights is MIKEY ADAMS. Fast rising MC RAY BRADSHAW joins the bill too. Ray is ginger and its caused him some pain. Expect a set peppered with witty one liners. “Funnier than a falcon” as Frankie Boyle said. RockNess loves SCOTT AGNEW. Tough, funny and original, with a brilliant and distinctively Glaswegian line in creative insults, we are so happy to welcome back Scott for what promises to be another big, burly, barnstorming performance. Also Highlands bound is SCOTT GIBSON, stand up comedian and Glasgow Mad Man.

STUART MITCHELL swapped a life of banking and fast cars for comedy…an astute move as his hectic gigging schedule proves. Last but certainly by no means least, we are delighted to welcome back NEIL BRATCHPIECE aka THE WEE MAN -the smallest member of the Bratchpiece Family. Music morphs into comedy too this year as VOCAL POINT are confirmed.

And RockNess simply wouldn’t be complete without THE CUBAN BROTHERS. Born of seventies Havana, nurtured on a diet of soulful sexiness and inspired by Cuban mythology, the Cubans have been with RockNess since the start and their humour-laced performances are now the stuff of legend.
