Another one bites the dust
RIP Loopallu
So, here we go. With a heavy heart, we’ve decided that our 13th outing is going to be our last. There’s no time to be sad, it’s time to celebrate what has made Loopallu so special over the years. Time to celebrate how the little event with a big heart transformed a small West Coast village at the end of the season, bringing millions of pounds into the economy over the years, and not to mention the priceless friendships established.
It’s time to bring back some of our favourite acts over the years, but also introduce some new ones too; some established household names and some stars of the future.
So, with great pleasure, we hail the return of The View as Friday headliners who will celebrate the 10thanniversary of their debut album ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’ by playing it in full, and we welcome, for the first time, indie darlings Glasvegas who will top the bill on Saturday night. Then, where do we start: local heroes Hunter & the Bear, back to celebrate the release of their debut album; the return of Turin Brakes with their only Scottish festival play of the summer; The Rezillos keep up our reputation of great punk acts; already announced The Pigeon Detectives bring an explosive energy to our stage that you’ve come to expect; up and coming and much talked about Tide Lines are expected to draw a huge crowd, as is Callum Beattie who has enjoyed having his recent releases playlisted on BBC Radio 2.
We have always tried to bring you new acts that excite us and this year is no exception so make sure you get along early for hotly tipped Tynesider Sam Fender, Edinburgh’s finest Hamish Hawk, buzz act The Howl and the Hum and Stornoway’s new super group Willie Campbell & the Tumbling Souls.
Of course, over the years in association with Ullapool Book Festival we’ve brought some incredible names from the literary world and we intend to end in style with no other than the legendary Ian Rankin, childrens favourite Mairi Hedderwick makes a popular return, and we extend a warm welcome to the award winningMalachy Tallack.
The infamous fringe will play host to Rhythmnreel, Little Mammoths, Ruairidh Maclean, Sons of the Soil, Will & the Wild Horse, Vic Galloway and of course Davy & the Hosebeast.
Then we thought, how do you make any send off go with a real bang…there is only one way, closing the main stage on Saturday night, and the final ever Loopallu act will be The Vatersay Boys.

The whole team would like to say a big thank you to all who have come over the years, your support and enthusiasm made the event what it was and what it is. Loopallu may come back in the future in a different guise, but for now lets have a party one last time.
