17,500 Festival fans watched the flames of Wickerman’s iconic 40 foot statue burn brightly on Saturday to celebrate the close of Scotland’s leading independent music festival. Excellent weather, unforgettable performances and a relaxed festival vibe ensured that this year’s event was a huge hit with fans who visited the scenic site for a feast of non-stop music and entertainment.

Saturday’s main Summerisle Stage produced another brilliant day of music with sets from super talented singer songwriter Tom Odell who mesmerised the crowds with his hit single ‘Another Love.’ Example and DJ Wire electrified the main arena in the evening, whilst reggae superstar Jimmy Cliff delivered a unforgettable string of hits, including ‘Wonderful World, Beautiful People’ and ‘You Can Get It If You Really Want’. Other main stage highlights included pop rebel Neneh Cherry and Tal National, who brought some international flair to Wicker fans.

The celebration of iconic acts continued in the Scooter Tent on Saturday as much-loved garage rockers The Sonics reminded the Wickerman crowd just why they were one of the standout bands of the 60s –their rousing performance of classic hit ‘Have Love Will Travel’ captivated the crowd. Punk performance poet John Cooper Clarke stirred up revelers with his signature lyrical trickery whilst the BMX Bandits and Aidan Moffat & Bill Wells stirred up a storm in the Festival’s new Pheonix Tent.

Dance music enthusiasts enjoyed high octane sets from Plump DJs, Kid Blast and Luke Stanger in Wickerman’s Bass Camp, whilst the headphone disco kept the crowds entertained and on their toes into the early hours. After the dramatic 2015 Wickerman burning and spectacular fireworks at midnight, revelers let loose in the Greenman Inn dancing to a celebratory closing party from Optimo Espacio.

Wickerman’s Festival Director Jennie Camm says:

“Wickerman 2015 has been a real success and all our team’s hard work and planning has really paid off. This year we were really keen to enhance the Festival experience with exciting new tents and artists along with improved on-site attractions to give our Festival goers the best weekend possible.

This year’s line-up is one of our strongest yet and has been well received by our loyal Festival goers. We are delighted to have hosted such a variety of new and established artists and want to thank them for making this year’s Festival one to really remember.”
